Your domain name is the front door to your application. It's how users find you, how they bookmark you, and how they remember you. It's also one of the few things that, if lost, can be genuinely difficult to recover. Domains get hijacked. Registrations expire because someone forgot to renew. Transfer locks get removed by social engineering attacks.

Getting a domain is easy — a few clicks and a credit card. Managing it properly takes a bit more knowledge, and protecting it takes deliberate action.

How Domain Registration Works
